Drunkenness. —John Colin Campbell, who failed to appear, was fined tho amount of his bail (2te)) in default 48 hours' imprisonment. Military Service Act.—John Muntland M'Dowell (Mr Irwin) entered a plea of guilty to a charge of failing to enrol under tho Act. According to Sub-inspector Mathieson, defendant, who was a single man, wap a member of tho First Division, but had enrolled in the Second Division. Ho had been living with a woman for somo 18 years, and had probably behoved himself married. —Counsel stated that his client was an expressman who had been employed with tho New Zealand Express Company for 13 yeans. There was no possibility of his running away and po side-stepping hia obligations under the Act.—Sub-inspector Mathieson applied for a remand so that tho man might bo medically examined. The woman defendant was living with wa married, her husband being away at the front. M'Dowell believed his ago to be 44 years.—Tho Magistrate granted the remand, fixing bail in self £50 and one surety for a like amount.
