Walsh, who left New Zealand with ■the 15tih Reinforcements, • states that he was hit very hard in the knee by a bit of ehell after about six hours fighting in the battle of Messines. He remained, for a time in an American hospital at Cjlmmiere, where the question of amputating the limb was seriously considered, and be was then removed to the Walton-on-Thamea Hospital, where, at the time of -writing (June 18) he was making good, progress towards Tecovery. Mathews is seriously ill with debility in the Walton-on-Thames-Hospital Hβ ia tho eldest son of the Rev. R. T.
