MONEY COMING IN «A Tray AO- -"0 TC'RILY. ; AIXVAjNTAGE OF INSCRIBED STOCK. . (Pes .United Pbess Absooiatioh.) .T, . WELLINGTON, August 24. > 'it B a very satisfactory sign that 'oo '< far early subscriptions to the War Loan' exceed in proportion those received durine - ™ 841110 penod of the successful loan <3 last year. The latest fig-ores show a total » rtceived exceeding £336,000, plus £28,000. of which £30,000 is to be subscribed by tho ' State Fire Office. No doubt other insurance offices will follow suit i£ they have n f ot Jrf f 4 ™? done so. There is thus a total of £616,000 definitely ascertained. The question has been raised whether tbe Government wishes savings txink depositors to invest then- money in tho War Loan, as in any case tho money is at the disposal > of the Government. The answer to this . is that, as investment in the War Tiotin Exes the money for a definite period of " years, and in savings banks it is at ™.ll depositors will be helping tho State by investing in the War Loan. Quite a number of inquiries have been - mado as to the nature of the .inscribed stock. If an amount is invested in inscribed stock there is no bond or debenture issued, tno particulars of tho amount invested being ■ -■» recorded by the Registrar at the Treasury*' &nd interest being paid on jvarrants issued "• by the Treasury half yearly. The advantage of inscription is that the members of the public who invest have not a document which can be lost or stolen, and tht transfer of the stock by sale to any othei person can only be effected by the holdei t giving a written notice of the transfer to •- ' the Treasury. It is intended to issue to those requiring it. a certificate whioh wiD indicate the amount inscribed, but this document will not be of any value other than as an indication of tho entry in the Treasury books. It could not be used by any person into whose possession it might come improperly, as the stock ran only hr transferred on sale after proper notice ha been given to the Tre-iKury. .
