Rumanian communique: Since August 11 (?) enemy attacks north of the Suaita Valley nave slightly forced us back, but our dashing counter-attacks drove the enemy back far up the Susita Valley, also at Satuma, south-west of Panciu, Violent enemy attacks between Slanik, Tirgu, and Ocna were driven back almost everywhere in disorder. RUSSIAN RETIREMENT. SUCCESSFUL COUNTER-ATTACKS. Admiralty, per Wireless Press. August 23. A Russian official message states: We retired under pressure in the direction of Tukkum. The enemy penetrated our trenches at Zboryah, but a counter-attack drove them, out. The enemy occupied % height northward of Jazlovetz, but a counter-attack restored the position. Fighting continues in the direction of Okna. The Rumanians repulsed attacks at Soreia, and the Germans unsuccessfully attacked in the direction of Focsani.
