Tho monthly meeting' of tlio committco of tho Otago A. and P. Society was held yesterday. Mr James Macandrew (president) occupicd the chair. The chairman wclooined to the committco Messrs G. H. MaoKwan and H. C. Campbell, who have reoontly been elcctod. Mr E., C. Ilazlott wiis unanimously appointed to tho Finance Committee, and, Messrs G.. H. MacEwan and H. C. Campbell to tho cheese and butter sections of tho Winter Show. Tho Secretary of the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers' Association wrote submitting tho following resolution:—"That all cheese and butter exhibits once rcooived or selected at a particular cool store to .which any exhibitor so consigns, shall be substantially sealed by an authorised person, such' seal to bo intact when tho stewards proceed to sot out tho exhibits thereof preparatory to judging, otherwiso , e . cx hibit will be disqualified."—lt vjas mi £' vc e ff ec t to the resolution. Tho Secretary of the New Zealand Council of Agriculture wrote submitting tho following motions which were passed at tho contocKo _in July, and asked the support of the society:—" (1) That in areas where county councils are not undertaking • any farming experimental work, agricultural and pastoral societies should endeavour to form separate associations for better development of farming, to be subsidised by all county councils and other bodies interested within tho area of the operations; (2) that the secretaries of affiliated societies be invited to attend tho annual conference in addition J®.™ delegates that the societies are entitled to send, tho secretaries to havo the right to take part in tho discussion, but not to _ vote unless they come as duly appointed delegates; (3) with a view ■to making A.. and P. shows more instructive, sooieties be urged to hold judging competitions, and that tho judge who adjudicates on these classes give a demonstration of the various points leading up to his decision; (4) to encourage unity and friendly relations among associations it be & recommendation to secretaries that they advise tho secretary of tho show following theirs, of any defaulter, especially side ws ' that until the indebtedness to the show bo paid they be not allowed on the ground."—lt was decided to support all tho clauses except the first, which it was considered advisable to hold over until after the war.
The Acting Secretary of the Otago Expansion League wrote with reference to resolutions recently passed in connection with land tenures in Otago, and asked the society to appoint two representatives to attend future meetings. It was resolved that Messrs James Smith (Greenfield) and George Black (Dalgety and Co.) be appointed delegates. Mr E. F. Duthie's motion, held over from last meeting—-" That the committee consider tho advisability of declining to accept any applications for side shows for the Winter Show of 1918 and that tho number of applications from stallholders for the salo of jewellery and other articles bo limited "— was approved. Tho schedule of classes and the programme for the Summer Show were reiu' an -? j ud ° es ? or tjie various sections at the show were nominated. A considerable amount of business in connection with future fixtures was considered. It was resolved that a special meeting of the respective sub-committees be called at an early date to revise and .f. r PPPUlarise the fat stock section of the Winter Show.
