, Th© Argyle Cass, tho main picture on the programme at the Octagon Theatre continues to draw big houses. It may well be termed a box office success. To the patrons of tho moving picture theatre there is no story which is as acceptable as that which is full of mystery and exciting in's ' n kh' 3 particular respect that The Argyle Case'* has met with wide popularity. "The Pursuing Vengeance," the leading subject on the present bill at the Plaza Theatre, was shown yesterday to encouraging houses. The picture, which is packed with thrills and episodes peculiar to a good detective dr»ma. is splendidly produced and well acted. On Monday next the great "moral" picture entitled "Ignorance"" wil' be screened, and from reports of its success in other centres it should enjoy a popular season hero. Tho Empire Theatre pictures probably do not require to have their merits extolled The current s'eries of pictures com-* pel interest, and what is much better revtain it to a finish. ' DUNEDIN CHOR AL SOCIETY. To-night the Dunedin Choral Society give "Hiawatha" in His Majesty's Theatre. The audience is kindly asked to be seated by 8 o'clock, when the concert will open with Elgars setting of the National Anthem, for solo chorus and orchestra. All seats upstairs and a large number in tho stalls aro engaged. "BTRTH OF A NATION." ■ The great attraction at the Octagon Theatre will be D. W. Griffith's wonderful production, "The Birth of a Nation," which begins its engagement on Saturday at the matinee. Two performances will be o-iven daily for a short season. This mighty "spectacle has turned the theatre records of America topsy-turvey. It is the story of American history, showing the rise and fall of slavery in that oountry. The plan is at the Bristol.
