EMPIRE THEATRE
The change of programme at the Empire Theatro yesterday was responsible for good attendances at all sessions. "The Black Wolf," a tale of tlie bandits of Spain, id the star film, and features Lou Tellegen and Nell Shipman. The Black Wolf reigns at the head of a band but. in spite of his bold robberies, is a benefactor at heart. A price is placed on the bandit's capture, dead or alive. The Duke del Miras falls in love with his Chancellor's daughter, Donna Isabel, but lira declaration meets with her displeasure and rejection, and she escapes from him in the forest. She meets the Black Wolf. Subsequent visits lead to the capture of the Black Wolf, who is sentenced to' death, bnt Donna Isabel's promise to marry the Duke secures his pardon It is afterwards discovered that the Black Wolf is tho rightful successor to the title now held by the Duke, and he is declared legal ruler and duke. Tho picture is well acted, and equally well filmed and screened. The comedy support features "Fatty s '' Arbuckle in "The Butcher's Boy," which is highly amusing.
