file monthly meeting of the Mornington School Cominittee was held on Monday, when Mr J. Thompson presided. Ihc head master's report showed that the average attendance for tho past month had been 562, 554, 546, and 556. The roll number is 598. The attendance banner has been won by Standard VI twice with 100 and 99 per cent., and twice by Standard 11, with 99.5 and 99.6 per "cent. The annual examination was hold by Mr Don during the week ended June 29. The report, laid on the table, is tho best the school has ever had. The committee expresses its high appreciation of the splendid reeoilts attained. In order to give the pupils a training in practical citizenship, a school council of 12 boys and girls has been elected 1 by their fellow pupils in Standards IV, V, and VI. They will learn in a practical way how to conduct an election, act as chairman, and keop the minute& Each member of the council wear? a metal badge in the form of a capital P, standing for prefect, and it is regarded as a great ■ honour to be entitled to wear this badge of office. Miss Kathleen Elizabeth Ma-cKisack was recommended l for appointment as junior assistant. The Visiting Committee reported that everything was satisfactory._ The Visiting Committee for the month is Messrs Bentham and Thompson.
