HARRIERS.
The St. Kilda Harriers opened their season, by an enjoyable run from the Bungalow Tea Rooms. Atfer a fast run along the beach, Lawyer Head and Tomahawk Beach were skirted. From there the course led) lonnd the edge cf the lakes back to r Tomahawk, whence a brisk rpn was •made home. ' The members afterwards partook of a splendid repast provided! by Mr E. Rosevear.
The Civil Service, Caversliam, and Dunedin Clubs held a combined run from St. Clair baHis on Saturday. There was a very large attendance, and Captains Mong, Holloway, and JJloy liad cbacga of the pack. The trail was alon? the beach to Lawyers' Head, thence across countrv, past the Shiel Hill .Hotel, and back by the" Tomahawk Lagoon and lupin track to the baths. Some 15 miles were covered during the run, but none of the runners seemed auy the worse of it. The Dnnedin Anglican' Harriers held their opening rnn from the St Clair baths on Saturday afternoon. There was a good attendance, and the spirit of keenness shown tliroughout tho rim augura well for a successful season. The trail led up the hill at the back of St. Clair, passed the Castle, and proceeded in the direction of Black Head. On reaching the promontory the hares turned homewards, led the pack past the golf links, and descended the hill into St. Clair. After the run the club proceeded to the Greenclifts Tea-rooms,, and there partook of tho hospitality of the committeeTaking advantage of flic fine day a large; number turned out last Saturday lor the official opening ran of tho St. Joseph's Hairier Club from the residence of the president (Mr J. J. Marlow). The pack, who were controlled by J. Burk, juu., ' led past Tahnna Park, following the road to Tomahawk Beach, where they indulged in aa enjoyable game 01 football, after which they struck • out for home. They were then entertained by Mrs Mnriow, who left nothing to be desired. An excellent musical programme was then gone throngh, after which Mr A. Neill, on behalf of the club, thanked Mr and Mrs Mnriow for their generous hospitality. Mr Neil! mentioned that every eligible member of the club had joined tho colours. The club has noiv between 50 and GO members and ex-members at the front.
