PROHIBITORY BY-LAW INVALID. (Per United Pnrcss Association.) WELLINGTON, April 18. The Fnl! Court delivered judgment this morning in the caso of Dovlo v. Whitehead, the Sunday golf case. The court was unanimous in upholding tho derision of the , magistrate that tho by-law which prohibited play, ing cr practising golf on Sundays upon any reserve vested in the Wellington City Council was ultra vires and invalid. The court held that the bv-kw was to enfoTW Sunday observance, and it was thereforo contrary to section 547 of "The Municipal Corporations Act. 1908." The court- also hold thai it was invalid as being -unreasonnihle. The appuU was therefore disraisa-d, with £10 cests.
