GENERAL NEWS
Tho thirteenth annual meeting of the Otago University Hockey Club waa held on Tuesday evening. Dr Gilray (the president) presided, and in a few remarks complimented the club on its good record. After the adoption of the report and balance sheet the meeting proceeded to election of officers. Dr Gilray was re-elected president. It was decided to enter at least one team and possibly two, in the forthcoming competition. The club has suffered a considerable depletion of membership owing to tho war. but a successful year is anticipated. Tho members of the Irish Club held their monthly social evening in the Savoy Lounge Rooms on Tuesday. During the evening songs were rendered by Mrs Power, Mrs Murdoch. Miss Murphy, Messrs D. Fogarty, Firkin. Hughes, Hodgo, and F. Fogarty! Mr Cummins gaye an address on " The Land of Antiquities." In our report of the' annual meeting of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers' Association, published yesterday, a misconstruction is ant to be placed on a statement made by Mr Harvey in referring to tho arrangements for the Anzac dinner on April 25. It would appear from what he was reported to have said that the members of tho Women's Patriotic Association wero supplying a dinner of sovon courses at a cost of 2s' 6d per head. As a matter of fact tho ladir-s are supplying a dinner of seven courses free of cost to the soldiers, tho charge of 2s 6d that is being made- for admission being to cover other expenses in connection with the dinner.
