AMUSEMENTS.
Tlib second episode of "Gloria's Romance" is proving a powerful attraction at tho Octagon and King Edward Theatres, at bot-h of which there were large audiences last evening. " Reggie Mixes In'" is an interesting character study in the course of which a strong clement of comedy is ntroducc-d. Tho ending is an ontirely happy one, and gives very general, satisfaction. M.ss Hazel Dawn as a barmaid whose hand is sought by true and false lovers, is the central figure in " The Masqueraders." at the Queen's Thoitre. Supporting pictures include views of tho stranded Mararoa. A • film of deep interest, " Tho Silent Battle." is tho attraction at the Plawi Theatro this week, supported by another sensational instalment of "Greed." Tho music by the orchestra is a feature. " The Woman," a Lasky play, telling a dramatic, story of American domestic and ix>lit : cal intrigue, is the central feature of the new programme, to be presented today at the Grand Theatre.. Mabel van Buren appears in the title rolo. The supporting p : ctures include a comedy . and an entertaining study of animal life. "The Gup •of Life," at Everybody's Theatre, is proving its attractiveness by drawing largo attendances. It, shows the dff«rence resulting from a good and an evil life. The supports are good. Very few pictures superior to " God's Half Aero" have been screened at tho Empire Theatre. It conta'ns an interesting story of poverty and wealth, and is very well supported. ORCHESTRAL SOCHSTYi At the King's Theatre this evening tho first concert of tho season of the Duncdin Orchestral Society will be g vcn. The principal item is Lardelli's Suite "Enfantine," number one "An bade," embracing so to work for strings, the second number tho pretty gavotto for full orchestra, number three the " Danse Des Gallants," with principal solo work for flutes, tho su te concluding with tho waltz "Danso des Filles." The other items include Berth oven's overture " Egmont." Rossini's " Semiramide," "La Travinta," Batista's Melody "Andante in G," and Suppe's march "Teufcls." Mr R Bryant will sing "A Cavalier's Song," composed by Mr J. C. Easton, and " Shipmates o' Mine," whilst Miss K. Carter will sing " Caro Mio Ben" and " Break, Break, "Break."
