EXTRACTS FROM A SCIENTIST'S DIARY.
" While water is boiling it will never freeze." " It isn't a bee's intellect that is sharp." " Gold is pretty soft if you have plenty of it." "A hen. has the same number of teeth as an oyster." Special Note.—lt is well to note in connection with this last-mentioned fact that the marvel would remain even if hen and oyster had each one tooth extracter! Perhaps, however, a more astounding fact is that there may be exactly the same number of buttons on, or stitches in, a 50s Made-to-Measure Penrose Suit as there are in a so-called tailor-made five, six, or seven guinea suit of the same material. The greatest wonder of all is, however, that so many people, ignoring cost, are prepared to vouch for differences that do not actually exist. The explanation, if there is any, is probably that " Gold is pretty soft if you have plenty of it."
