NOTHING BUT TAXATION.
PERTH, April 18. Speaking at the patriotic carnival, the Premier of Western Australia (Mr Scaddan) expressed the opinion that nothing but taxation would ensure that returned soldiers would not be neglected. THE NAVT'S I.ONG VIGIL. From time to time come ecrappy accounts of the doings of our great navy away up there in the North Sea. From its base at Rosyth, near Edinburgh, an ever watchful eye is kept on the whole expanse of sea from the Channel to the far northern icefields. Many a cold watch, has Jack, and many a German submarine has fallen his ■prey. Were New Zealand nearer it would bo a good idea to send boxes of Red Cross Ointment to sailor friends of tha Grand Fleet. Sailors appreciate its healing properties when their hands are cut orchanped. A box of Red Cross Ointment is easy to carry. It costs but Is 6d at chemists and stores.—Advt. 2
