WOOL SALES

THE LONDON SERIES. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. (Peb United Phebs Association.) WELLINGTON, April 12. A cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, April 11, states:— The wool sales lhavo commenced. There, was great competition for all wools, but buyeis were cautious on account' of' the high ■"rices and the uncertainty as to tho attitude with regard to tho limitation ok future contracts. Values average £d lower , than last sales. There were 56,000 bales of New Zealand wool catalogued. The following were the quotations givenby the High Commissioner in his laat cablegram on the London wool sales:—Fine creesbreds, all grades, Is 8d to Is lid; medium crossbreds, all grades, Is 6d to Is 8d; coarse crossbreds, all erades, Is 4d to Is6d; superior merinos, Is 7d to Is 9d; medium merinos, Is 4d to la 6d; inferior merinos, Is Id to Is 3d. Tho Barak of New Zealand has received' from its London office the following advice regarding tihe opening' of the pesent series of colonial wool sales in LoiiJon:—"London wool sales: Crosßbreds, par to 5 per cent, cheaner; merinos, unchanged." The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. (Ltd.) is in receipt of the followincr cablegram from itt. London office: — " Wool sales: Good competition; crossbred very little change; merino in favour of sellers." The National Mortgage ajid Agency Co. of New Zealand is in receipt of a cablegram from its London office advising: — ■• VVool eales have opened. Slipe and crossbreds practically unchanged; merinos, par to 5 per cent, dearer." Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co. have received the following cafoled_ advice from their London agents regarding the wool market: —"Sales have opened firm; good attendance) of buyers. All descriptions of wool remain unchanged except crossbred shabby, which has declined id."
