NEW TAXES DISCUSSED.

RAILWAY TICKET TAX PROBABLY DROPPED. LONDON, April 11. Members of the House of Commons severely criticised the new taxes on railway tickets, matches, and amusements. The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr M'Kenna) promised to reconsider them, and has arranged to receive a deputation of match-makers. The Hon. E. S. Montagu, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, hinted that the Government would possibly drop the railway ticket tax. The Finance Bill was then read a second time.
