I HIDE SALE REPORT. Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows:—Recently the Government prohibited the export of hides weighing 451b and over, at the same time fixing the minimum prices for these weights at 9d per lb for cows and 10d per lb for ox hides, and advised holders that they were at liberty to obtain as much more as they could. The tanners claimed that these prices were to bo tho maximum that they should pay. A departure was made yesterday, however, when wo offered .t Burnside approximately 400 butchers' abattoir hides on account of the Otago Co-operative Tallow and By-products Company. There was a large muster of bμyerß, and we cleared tho catalogue at prices that must be considered extremely satisfactory. The best prices were:—Ox hides 12|d, cows 9?d, yearlings 10d, and calfskins 12d. A few of our top prices are as follow:—Ox: Ten 591b, 12|d; 12 621b, 12|d; 12 621b, 12id; three 651b, six 671b, 124 d; 10 691b, 12£ d; one 761b, 12|d; one 771b, 12Jd; nine 631b, 12d; 10 561b, 12d; 12 561b, 12d. Cow hides: Twelve 531b, 9|d; seven 531b, 9|d; seven 531b, 9?d. MUTUAL STORES. At the thirteenth annual meeting of the Mutual Stores the directors' report showed that the result of the year's trading had been satisfactory. It was decided to pay dividends of 7£ per cent, on the preference arid 6 per cent, on the ordinary shares, and to transfer £500 to reserve, leaving a balance of £434 5s 4d to be carried forward. The retiring director (Mr Peter Barr) was re-elected, and Messrs William Brown and Co. were reappointed auditors.
