(Peb United Piiess Association.) ■■ , WELLINGTON, April 10. The Court of Appeal (per Mr Justice Edwards) delivered its reserved decision hi the case of Thomas Scurr v. Sir Robert Stout. The .question for' the court's determination wftsr "Whether the letter of October 20, 1914, from defendant to plaintiff was an engagement pr appointment of plaintiff to act as agent in respect of tho sale or disposition of the leasehold property referred to in tho statement of claim in terms of section 13 of "The Land Agents' Act, 1912,' or otherwise." The court answered tho question in the negative, stating that, apart from the Land Agents' Act, there was no appointment of plaintiff as agent. Costs in the Court of Appeal were allowed defendant on thej'lowest scale as from a distance, and tho case was remitted to the .Supreme-Court) for final determination.

REX v. HAYNES. In B*\- v. Haynes the majority of the Court o" Appeal (Sir Robert Stout dissenting) held that the conviotion must be quashed, as the declaration relied upon by the Crown ae evidence of perjury omitted all reference to "The Justices of the Peace Act,1908." The court held that the form used was not a slight deviation from the form prescribed under that Act.
