DIDSEDIN HOSPITAL GUILD
The annual report of the guild sets forth that the year just closed has been a very busy one, and the. committee congratulates members on the amount of work which they have accomplished. There has been an increase both in membership) and attendance, the number of members this year being 157 , : as against 148 last year, and the average attendance 44, as against 36. Eleven.sewing meetings have been held. during the year, resulting in 270 garments having been made end sent to the Hospital. The material for the children's nightdresses was supplied by the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. At a special meeting it was unanimously decided to donate the sum of £10 from the guild funds for purchasing material with which to help with the equipment of the first hospital ship. A sewing meeting was held for this purpose, with the result that a number of garments, etc., were sent to the Early Settlers' Hall four days later. Towards the end of June a.n urgent appeal came from the secretary of the Women's Patriotic Association for help with the equipping of five beds in Trentham Hospital. This work was willingly undertaken, and the-full equipment for five beds was completed and sent to the Early Settlers' HaH The necessary material for this work was supplied by the Patriotic Association. It wae unanimously decided that the members should continue to work during recess (with the exception of Christmas and New Tear holidays) for the wounded soldiers, and that an appeal be made to members for extra subscriptions to provide the necessary material.
