BOARDER BADLY* INJURED.

. (Pee United P'rebs Association.) AUCKLAND; April 8. A two-storey boarding house in Gladstone street, owned by Mr T. H. White, and occupied t>y Mrs *H. Impey, was gutted by 'fire last night. There were 13 boarders asleep when tho alarm was given. All rushed -into the street in their night attire. George Storey, aged 40, employed as a clerk in the Postal Department, returned for his trousers, and was overpowered .by the smoke. A rescuer fon ml liim envelopcd in flames and badly burned. T«Io was removed to the hospital, where his condition is reported as but not expected to prove fatal. Insurances: On the house, £450 in tho South British; on tho furniture, £150 in the Standard.
