ANNUAL MEETING. At the Tuapoka County Jockey Club's annual meeting on Wednesday night there ■was a largo attendance o£ members, und the proceedings throughout (our Lawrcnco correspondence states) wore of tho moat enthusiastic mature. Mr T>. Munro was unanimoiisly re-elected president. The balanco sheet showed tho total receipts (including a credit balanco of £39 8s lid brought forward) to have been £866 8s 10(1. Of this amount the totalisator was responsible for £401, and nominations and acceptances for £192 ss. The expenditure totalled £866 8s 6d, leaving a credit balanco of 4d. It was explained by tho chairman that during tho year they had expended nearly £200 in permanent improvements, and had also made a donation of £20 to the Patriotic Fund. In tho present year they did not .anticipate any considerable cxpenso in connection with their property, so that, on the whole, he considered the financial position of the club very satisfactory. It was made a recommendation to tho Programme Committee to increase tho stakes to £2150—an increase of £50 on the amount paid out last year. Mr James Robertson, who has been associated with the club for over SO years, handed in his resignation owing _ to his leaving the district. Tho resignation was accepted with regret, very eulogistic reference being made to Mr Robertson's work in connection with tho club and in catering for clean oport. As a mark of the club's appreciation of his services he was unanimously elected a life member. The" appointment, of a handicapper was left in abeyance till after tho conference with the Beaumont Club, it being considered advisable that both clubs should employ the same adjuster of weights.
