GOING TO THE FRONT.
Messrs David Kennedy, Arch. M'Alpine, and Michael Hines left Patcaroa on Tuesday to go into training. On the previous evening a very large gathering ot friends met in the hall tc bid the soldiers goodbye. Mr M''Atamney presided, and 0.. bfchalf of the residents presented Mr Kennedy with a, purse of sovereigns, and Messrs M'Alpine and Hines each with a cheque in appreciation of their patriotio conduct. The Chairman, and Messrs M'Skimming, Greer, and Orerar spoko highly of the three brave fellows, and assured them of a warm reception when they returned. Mr Kennedy was born and brought up at Patcaroa., and Mcesrs M'Alpine and Hines have been rcspected residents of the district for some years. A long programme of songs, dances, and refreshments was gone through during tho evening -
