Notes by Jack. ' Tho Southland Centre's patriotic tournament attracted a fair entry from players belonging to clubs affiliated to the centre but no outsiders. The weather conditions were favourable for the first two days' play, but raiu fell on Monday afternoon. The Pairs were played on the sudden death system. The Singles, with which tho tournament opened, resulted in a win for Holloway, with the veteran Ha,in as runner-up. In Club's rink, skipped by Hain, defeated the the Rinks match the final was not got off until Friday evening when the Southland Invercargill Club's rink, skipped by Domigan. Hain played well, and so did Domigan, who made a good finish after beipg nine points down for a considerable part of the game. Lindsay Brothers, of Winton, won tho Pairs match, defeating Walker and Stead in the final. The net proceeds of the tournament are to be devoted to the patriotic fund. On Boxing Day three rinks from the Roxburgh Club visited Lawrenco and played two matches. The first was against Lawrence, and resulted in Roxburgh losing by a very substantial margin. The visitors th<#i played a Waitahuna team and made a better showing, having beoome acquainted with the green; nevertheless, Waitahuna won by 84 points to 55. '
