FRUIT FROM GERMANS IN MALAGA. A Dunedin merchandise firm has received tho following communication from tho acting-Collector of Customs: —"I havo been asked to inform you that the dried fruit being imported by you from Messrs , of London, was ordered by thorn from Messrs Hoinsdorff and Lemke, of Malaga., both Germans, and his Majesty's Consul at Malaga desires that you be made aw arc of tho fact that there are British fruit exporters established at Malaga—namely, Thornton and Co. and R. Bcntley." Tho head of tho local firm referred to has ■written a strong letter of protest to his agent in London for being supplied with fruit from enemy agents. He informed o, Times reporter that merchants here find it very difficult in some cases to ascertain ' whether tho firms they are dealing with in Britain aro really owned by Germans. Ho gave as an illustration of this difficulty that his firm desired to secure a certain foodstuff from England. The agent in London for this commodity had, however, a Gorman name, and his firm was unable to discover whether he was really a Gorman or not. Under the circumstances tho Dunedin firm had decided, in the meantime, to cut tho business out altogether.
