OCEAN BEACH DOMAIN BOARD
Mr J. H. Hancock presided over a meeting of the Domain Board, held yesterday afternoon. The Undcr-secretary of the Department of Lands wrote notifying- that the synopsis of reports of domain boards would not be printed this year.—Received. The Secretary of the Otago Expansion League wrote intimating that it had no funds to bo devoted to the purpose of fencing tho Ocean Drive, and, further, that it was of the opinion that the Ocean Drive should not bo fenced.—Tho letter was roccived. The Secretary of the league also wrote asking that the- Ocean Drive be opened to vehicular traffic—Tho Chairman pointed out that this was a matter which concerned the district public works engineer, with whom tho responsibility of opening the road rested. —The secretary was instructed to convey this information to the league. Mr J. P. Morris wrote applying for a 21 years' lease, subject to renewal, of that portion of the domain opposite Onslow House and adjoining the St. Kilda band rotunda reserve. Mr Morris stated that ho desired the lease for the purpose of constructing an enclosed swimming bath on the area on the lines of tho St. George's Swimming Bath at Liverpool.—The secretary was instructed to ask Mr Morris to furnish de•tails of his proposal, and also of his ability to carry out his plans, and, if they proved satisfactory, the board would make every endeavour to obtain legislation empowering it to grant the lease applied for. It was decided to pay the annual visit of inspection to the domain on Monday ingThe Works Committee was instructed to act in regard to seeing that the Ocean Drive was completed in a satisfactory manner.
