GERMAN ADMISSION.
A SIGNIFICANT COINCIDENCE. LONDON, November 12. The German official report that the troops are abandoning parts of the country west of Riga which they recently won because the gains had been transformed into swamps significantly coincides with recent Russian successes in this region. The German troops are undoubtedly suffering great hardships. The ground is frozen to a depth tof sft. A correspondent at Russian head* quarters in General Russky's group says: " Winter has set in in the northern sector, and ice and snow are experienced in the Dvinsk-Riga region, with heavy frosts. The advent of winter does not affect the Russian plans of cutting the Riga-Dvinsk railway, and has not interfered with supplies, which are conveyed from the rear. We pressed back the German flank south of Riga, where the enemy, arrayed against new and inferior troops, were driving a wedge. In the centre a superior formation was threatening the line west of Dvinsk. The railway service rear the northern group is working satisfactorily, and the main junctions are fairly free. The refugees have gone, greatly relieving the railway pressure, and copious supplies of ammunition are reaching Dvinsk, Riga, and Morse.
