PROSECUTIONS AT MILTON. •SOME HEAVY PENALTIES. Mr R. J. Acheson, S.M., conducted a sitting of the Magistrate's Court at Milton on Saturday, when several cases under the Sale of Food and Drugs Act were dealt with, and some heavy penalties inflicted. Mr MacGregor, K.C., conducted the prosecutions on behalf of'the Public Health Department. In the first .case heard J. B. Norrie was charged wih selling milk containing a greater proportion of water than is allowed by the regulations. He was fined £20 and costs (£3 3s). M'Leod 8r05.,, bakers, were then charged with selling light-weight bread —namely, a 41b loaf that was 2oe short weight, .and a penalty of £10 and costs (£3 3s) was imposed. _ John Wyber, another baker, appeared in answer to a similar charge, and was fined A? and costs (£3 3s). Mr Gilray appeared for Norrie, . and the other two defendants were represented by Mr Thomson.
