MAIL STEAMER STOPPED. THE MAILS JETTISONED. COPENHAGEN, August 12. A German submarine stopped the mail steamer Irish in the North Sea and compelled her captain to throw overboard a valuable Russian mail.

AUXILIARY CRUISER SUNK. LONDON, August 12. The auxiliary steamer India has been torpedoed and sunk in the North Sea. Twenty-two officers and 119 men were saved.

LONDON, August 13. (Received Aug. 13. at 5.5 p.m.) The India was engaged on patrol duty in the North Sea. She was sunk on the Bth inst.

DANISH STEAMER DESTROYED. COPENHAGEN, August 12. The Danish schooner Jason was sunk Her cTew landed at Esbjerg.

THE WEEK'S TOLL. LONDON, August 13. (Received *Aug. 13, at 7.5 p.m.) There were 1396 arrivals and departures for the week ending tho 11th inst. Two vessels were sunk by submarines, aggregating 5371 tons, and 17 fishing vessels were sunk.

(■Received Aug. 13, at 7.6 p.m.) Oflieial : The losses of the Danish mercantile fleet through mining and torpedoing total 4.500,000 kroner (£248,437 10s). The loss through the detention of goods by Britain is estimated at over 4,000.000 kroner (£220,833 6s 8d).
