THE HUDDART-PARKER FLEET.
THREE NEW VESSELS BUILDING. Nairana (Uio Tasmanian aboriginal name for "eagle'') is tue name selected for the new Huddart-Parker liner building in tScotiand. Tho new vessel is being constructed at Denny and Brothers' yard, Dumbarton. She -will bo a fast passenger boat, and lias been designed to run in conjunction with the steamer Loongana m the MelbourneXasnianian tiude, m terms of the new contract entered into with tho Commonwealth Government. The new steamer (says the j Sydney Daily Telegraph of the 18th inst.) will _be replete with all tho most modern appliances tor tho safety and comfort of pas- J ecngers, and she will be equipped with water tube boiicrs and geared turbines. Two largo cargo steamers are also ncaring completion. _ One is being built by the Sunderland Shipbuilding Company, which they have named the Goulburn; the other by the Blyth Shipbuilding Company, which they have named the Hebburn, after tho largo coal property which ' tho company has recently acquired in Newcastle. The Goulburn is finished, and is now almost readyto leave on her outward voyage to Australia. This vessel is of an approved "Yarra" type, carrying a cargo of 3600 tons on a light draught at a speed of 10 knots. The Hebburn is expected to bo ready for sea next month. This vessel is an improvement on the Werribee, which ship has proved so successful in tho rapid handling of cargo. The Hebburn will carry slightly over 6000 tons deadweight at a speed of 11 knots. She has six holds, as near as possible of equal dimensions, and a seventh of half the size, so that all these holds can be discharged in the same number of working hours. iShe has four masts to carry the derricks necessary for the rapid discharge of cargo from all these holds. Another innovation which has been adopted in the building of this ship is that she is built with a cruiser stern. The advantage of this is that it gives more roomy accommodation at the stern of tho ship, and also makes her more easy to manoeuvre in narrow waters.
