THE LONDON MARKET. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, LONDON, January 26. The wool market is stronger, all sorta being firm. American buyers were operating. In merinos some New Zealand prices' were :—Ngakonui, top 16d, average 15£ d; Piako, top 14£ d, average 14^d. KEEN DEMAND AT SYDNEY. SYDNEY, January 27. (Received Jan. 27, at 9.30 p.m.) There continues to be a keen demand for wool, and prices now nearly equal the old standards in normal times. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Ltd.) has received the following cablegram from its London office: " America and Franco are competing. Compared with December, prices are higher: Greasy merino—superior, 7A per cent., medium 10 per cent., faulty 15 per cent; scoured crossbred—greasy 5 per cent, to 10 per cent.; sooured slipe and lambs, par to 5 per cent." Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co. have received the following cablegram from tkeir London agents (Messrs Sanderson, Murray, and Co.), under date the 27th inst. : — ' Wool market firm, with upward tendency; competition good."
