A Press Association message fror Feilding state*? that Mr F. Y. Lethbridgo, ex-M.P., for Oroua, died yesterday morning after a long illness. A Christchurcu Press Association message states that the Hon. W. Fraser arrived from the north yesterday morning and transacted departmental business. Mr A. E. Kitchen, of Wanganui, received a cable on Saturday intimating that his son, Mr Bernard Kitchen, is shortly returning to New Zealand. At the outbreak ot the war in Europe all music students were compelled to leave Germany, and consequently inany have reluctantly taken up other professions in view of the uncertain outlook prevailing. Mr Bernard Kitchen (says the Chronicle) will probably study medicine in Dunedin. Mr J. G. Johnston, who has been meat inspector to the Mataum Freezing Works for the past four years, has received notice of his promotion to Invercargill (says tho Ensign). During his stay at Mataura Mr Johnston has been prominent in many institutions, particularly the Presbyterian Church, of which he has been a valuable member, and Mrs Johnston has been an enthusiastic member of tho Horticultural Society. Mr T. Tomlinson, of Dunedin, will be Mr Johnston's successor.
