IMPENDING BEEF FAMINE

(Peii United Press Association.) CHIUSTCHURCH, January 26. A leading Chriskhurch butcher, interviewed, said that there was every indication of an impending beef famine. At present there was little beef at a price below 40s per 1001b finding its way to the shops. There was an undoubted dearth of fat cattle. Export buyers were scouring the country and giving prices for all descriptions of beef which would have astonished the cattle-raiser of bygone years.
