It is reported that Mr Bodkin's supporters intend to recognise in a substantial manner the fight he put up as a candidate for Otago Central. An old identity in the person of Mr Huntly G. Scott, "died recently in Devonshire Gully, aged about, 90 years. He arrived there in the sixties, about '63. Mr Carnegie has agreed to renew his offer of ££00 for a library here, and the council will deal with the offer this week. It would add greatly to the attractiveness of this town if the library were built on a large section, and a garden laid out around it. In Roxburgh active steps are being taken'to beautify the town, and as our city fathers and Mayor are progressive men. they will, no doubt, take steps to do something akin here.
