ALTERATIONS IN STATUTES
SERIOUS ALLEGATION.

WELLINGTON, July 8.
Mr Bell gave notice to-day to ask the Attorney-general whether the attention of the Government had been drawn to the judgment of Mr Justice Sim in tho case of arbitration between F. B. Bryant and others and R. M. Thomson and another, as reported in tho Otago Daily Times of May 30, in which his Honor stated that alterations of the law were made in tiho Consolidated Statutes, "deliberately," "surreptitiously," ami " without the knowledge of tho Consolidation Commissioners," and, if so. what stops, if any, bad the Government taken, or did it intend to take, in tlio matter.
