Tho annual conference of the Plunket Society was continued in tho Town Hall to-day, Mrs Algar Williams presiding. Dr Valintino (Chief Health Officer) was also present.

r l!ho morning business, taken in committee, was principally occupied with the discussion of the relationship of the sooicty to tiho State, the general feeling being that the functions of the society's nurses were different from those of district nurses, their work being more of an educational nature. Ur Truby King spoke at considerable length. Later Dr Valintine gave the society an assucanoo that the position as between the society and the department should remain unaltered until next annual conference; Ho also stated that in futuro the Health Department would communicate with the Plunke* Society Centres only, and not with its branches.
