BOWLING
OTAGO CLUB. Tho annual meeting of the above club, which was held in Uio pavilion last night, was attended by about 40 members. Mr C. Speight (president), who occupied the chair, expressed pleasure at seeing such a good attendance, as it went, to prove- that members took an interest m the welfare of the dub. Before proceeding with the business of the evening he asked those present to receive a deputation. Colonel Stonoham and two other members of the/ National Reserve bi'ietly explained the objects of the movement, and expressed tho wish that many members ot tho Otago Club would join the reserve.
Several signified their intention of becoming members. The Chairman then formally moved the adoption of the report and balance sheet. In doing so he congratulated members on the success that had attended the cluii during the past season. The winning ot matches was not the sole object of members. There was as much enjoyment to be got out of losing a game as there was out of winning one. The finances of the club wore in a very satisfactory condition, there being a substantial credit balance at tho bank. The green had played exceptionally well during the season, and this was undoubtedly due to the constant attention, shown bv tho greenkeeper, Mr Brycc. Since April the playing area had been drained, and it was confidently anticipated that during the ensuing season the green would be as nearly perfect as possible. In conclusion, the speaker paid tribute to the services Tendered by both the Saturday and Wednesday selectors. Mr E. S. Paterson seconded the motion, which was carried.
•The office-bearers for the season were then elected as follow: -Patron, Mr W. Dawson; president, Mr C. Speight; vicepresidents, Captain Sundstrum and Mr 0.

In accordance with notice given, Mr Speight moved--" That it bo an instruction to tiio Club Tie, Committee that all club ties he concluded by the dates specified hv tho committee." Mr "J. Brown seconded the motion, which was carried. Tho prizes won during tho season wore presented as follow : —Champion Singles— J. Hamilton 1, 0. «. Smith 2. Champion Rinks—Messrs T. McGregor, VV. \\ il-on. C Breislev, and J. Hamilton (s), 1: Messrs J Henderson. W. Henderson, A. Melville, and W. G. Hay (?), 2. Champion Doubles —Messrs E. S. Paterson and F. ia. King (p)", 1; Messrs P. M'Caskill and P. Marks ('?,)', 2.' Handicap Singles— H. L. Smith 1, J. M'Combie 2. Mr C R. Smith said it had been decided hv the Bowling Council that a player must have a portion or the whole of 'both feet on the mat when delivering a bowl. He felt sure it was a step in the right direction, and he had not the slightest doubt that members would take kindly to the innovation.—Tt was expected that this question would have raised a big discussion, but such was not the case The nominations of four new members were received, and these will be balloted for later on. Votes of thanks to last season s officebearers, to tho ladies, the press, and a special'one to the retiring secretary, Mr Milne, concluded the meeting.
