Pr««a Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, May 10. k (Received May 11, at 5.25. p.m.) At a sitting of the Venereal Diseases 0 Commission, Sir Herbert Smalley, Comjj. missioner of Prisons, gave evidence that .. under 2 per cent, of the persons admitted to local prisons were venereally diseased, e but 17 per cent, of the prisoners in convict t . prisons showed symptoms of syphilis. He , did not favour notification of the disease, g but recommended free treatment easily of e access in order to stem the sufferings irom a the diseases.
