TO THE KDITOiI. Slit, —Wo ask your valuable aid in milking known th(>. Stead Memorial F'uml, to provide homes for womu'ii workers in all lands, to 1)0 called tins Stead hostels. The first hostel is to bo opened shortly, in .London, and because Mr W. T. Stead was so dee'ily and truly the champion of woman's cause through all his life, it has Ijccn proposed that this hostel be provided by women of all nationalities and professions, as a tribute to their friend, in furtherance of this proposal, a Woman's Shilling Fund has been started in connection with the Stead Memorial Fluid, Her Majesty Queen Alexandra graciously giving a donation of £100. Tl'is effort to supply shelter and comfort; to lonely workers is in complete harmony with Mr Stead's life and work, and is a memorial he would have approved of with all his heart. I appeal through you to the women of New /Zealand, that they may be represented in this memorial, i-nd make it a truly great Mid representative one. I will be glad to receive and acknowledge any donations, and forward them to Mr TJourchier Hawksley. London, the honorary treasurer.
