The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society was neld yesterday; present—Messrs J. W. Blair (president}, U. H. Gilroy, J. Gow, J. Maeandrcw, T. Scott, H. M. Loudon.
Tlie Secretary of the Department of Agriculture wrote stating tliat cne' Govern.jiPiit pioposed to expend a sutiioient sun in exhibiting the primary products of manufacturers of the dominion at the Panama .Exhibition, and the Prime Minister would be pleased to near that producers and m.inuiaoturers were willing to assist by' arranging lor space, or ui any other way tiuit niigjit appear desirable, in order that matters nuglit bo advanced as tar as possible in America, Mr Chiton, director ot ine fields and experimental iarms division of department, has been appointed CominissiMner ior the Exhibition, as well as trade representative for' the dominion on i'ie west coast of Canada, 'io enable the people ...f New Zealand to take an interest in the Exhibit:on, which m view of the recent tariff alterations m America Mr Massey regarded as of great importance to the dominion at the present time, it was desired tliat a Central Committee lor the inhibition should be set up in Weilmgton, and advisory committees in the other principal centres. Mr Massey would be glad to hear r.ny suggestions as early as possible.—lt was decided to co-operate with other associations in an endeavour to have the products ot the dominion fittingly displayed at the Exhibition.
JL'Jie Secretary of the National Sheepbreeders' ' Association, London, wrote intimating that the fifteenth international Conference of Sheepbreeders would take place this year at Shrewsbury (England), when a paper on "Tho Outlook for Breeders of Purebred Sheep" would be read, and asking the society to appoint a delegate to attend tho conference.—it was resolved that Mr A. D. Bell, of Shag Valley, be asked to represent the society at the conference.
