OTAGO ROWING ASSOCIATION

A meeting of the Otago Rowing Association was held last night, when there were present—Messrs J. G. Galbraith (in the chair), J. Mahoney, W. ,T. Brailoy, d. Mason, E. V. Fairbairn, F. W. Mitchell, P. J. Priest, W. J. Renwick, E. Lightbourne, M. Priest, and 8. G. Styche.

Tho Secretary reported that the Expansion League was including the regatta on its programme as one of the functions in connection with Gala Week.

Mr Renwick, having given the requisite notice of motion, it was decided to row the Senior Fours in clinker boats.

A long discussion took place regarding holding the races at this regatta with a turn in the oourso so as to give the public- an opportunity of witnessing both the start and the finish of the races. The following recommendation to the Course Committee was carried: " That the races be rowed from a point to be determined off the old dock to Bonnor'6 and back. An amendment that the course bo the same as last year was lost.

Mr J. J. Clark wrote wishing the re- . gotta every success, and enclosing a cheque for £1 Is as a donation. —Acknowledged with thanks. The Union Steam Ship Company wrote granting the nse of ono of its boats as a flagship.—Received. The New Zealand Railway Department wrote granting permission to barricade the ■wharves, . and stating that the usual concessions would be granted the. association, and that special arrangements would be made for conveying the public to and from tho regatta.—Received. Mr Coleman wrote granting tho use of the Vanguard as umpire's boat.—Received. Tho Queenstown Regatta Committee submitted its programme for approval.—Approved. Mr F. W. Platts was appointed the Now Zealand Association's representative for this regatta. The foloving gentlemen were appointed patrons in connection wittt the association's annual regatta:—The. Right Hon. Sir Joshua Williams, the Mayor of Dunerlin, tho Mayor of Port Chalmers, Colonel Bauchop, Captain Strang, Dr Allan, Messrs E. 11. Clark, M.P., S. Solomon, K.C.. L. R. Wilson, L. W. Harris, J. J. Clark, Walter Young, S. S. Myers, C. F. Greonsladc, G. A Lewin, H. E Moller, A. C. Han lon, N. Dodds, W. Dawson, J. D. Stevenson, W. J. Bardsley, and H. D. Brewer. The following officers were appointed:— Judges—Messrs A. E. Gascoigne, F. W. Mitchell, F. D. Kesteven, and the president of fcho Southland Association; umpire and timekeeper, Mr W. Wilson; starter. Mr J. E. Galbraith; assistant starter. Mr W. T. Brailey; press steward, Mr P. J. Priest; Now Zealand Association's representative, Mr F. W. Platts.
