DUNEDIN MUNICIPAL ASSOCIATION.
At a meeting of tho executive of the Dunedin Municipal Association, held last ovening, the report of the sub-committee appointed to interview the town clerk in regard to the electric power line to Port Chalmers was submitted. Tho town clcrk supplied the following information to certain questions relative to the Waipori scheme and other matters:—■
(1) Total cost of Jiydro-electric works? — " Tho capital expenditure to 30th September, 1913, was £433,160. (2) Total revenue of same? —"The icvenue lor 12 months ended 30th September, 1913, was £47,320.'' (3) Estiinuted cost of Port Chalmers extension works? —£6000." (4) Estimated revenue from same?—"£2o2s per annum." (5) Have you all tile power demanded by tno Dunodm public?—" Yes." (6) Cost per unit?—" (a) As power: Varies from 2d per unit for suppy at any hour down to 35d per unit for contracts for a 24 hours' Hip ■ply, or under special conditions, (b) As light: 5d per unit for daily supply of li hours on maximum demand, balance at Id per unit; or, in the absence of maximum demand indicator, a Hut rate of 5d per unit.' Alter some discussion a deputation was appointed to wait upon the City Council at itiS next meeting to urge reasons why the prosecution of the. Port Chalmers scheme should bo delayed in the meantime.
After considerable detail work had been attended to, about 250 new members were elected.
