Mr Riddell, S.M., of Wellington, is at present in Dunedin. The employees of Stewart's Manchester House, Milton, last week presented one of their number, Miss B. Allison, who is/about to be married, with a handsome dinner service Mr A, A. Paape, organiser for the Reform League, arrived in Dunedin last night, and will proceed to Invercargill this morning to spend a few days' holiday.Mr J. R. Montgomery, formerly of the staff of the Otago Boys' High School, has been appointed to the position of assistant master at the Christchurch Boys' High School. Mr Montgomery is at present head master of the Geraldino High School. At Milton, prior to severing their connection with the Bruce Woollen Mills, Miss Wells and Mies M. Wilson, who are shortly to be married, were presented by 'the:r fellow-employees with a pair of blanketa. They were also made the recipients of a silver egg cruet and dainty ealad bowl respectively by the congregation of *o Methodist Church on Sunday evening. Amongst changes in the Postal Department's staff, the following are notified in the Milton Post Office:—Mr G. E. H. Davis to be telegraphist at Balclutha, v:ca Mr M'Lellan, transferred to Invercargill; Mr J. Thompson, cadet at Dunedin, to Milton. Miss Cameron, who for the pa6t six years has been a member of the Dunedin and Palmerston North staffs of the firm of Messrs Reid and Gray, was entertained by her friends at Palmerston North last week, prior to her departure for Auckland," and made the recipient of a puree of sovereigns from the combined Palmerston North and Dunedin staffs. During _ tho evening songs and musical items were given, and a pleasant time was spent at progressive euchre. Before the gathering dispersed, i Mrs and Mrs Cameron were thanked, on i behalf of the visitors, for tho very enjoy- . able evening spent. „, , ™ . The Mosgiel Presbyterian Church Choir, i in the form of a surprise party, on Wed- ' nesday evening invaded Mansfield, tho I residence of Mr James Prentice, the choirmaster, and presented him with a case of pipes, and Mrs Prentice with la pretty cameo brooch, in recognition of tho past ■ kindnesses of the recipients. They also pre- ' sented Mr Prentice with a silver-mounted i ebony baton as a mark of the esteem in i wh:ch he was held as choirmaster. Mr W. Bain, in a happv speech, made the pre. ■ sentation, and expressed the hope that Mr , Prentice would long be spared to weikl • the baton for tho benefit of the church and choir. . Mr Prentice, in reply, referred to tho harmony and. g°°d feeling that had always obtained between himself and the i choir, and trusted that such would continue". During the evening solos and read- ! ings were contributed, and supper having 1 been partaken of, a very pleasant evening; ' was terminated b v tho singing of "Auld ; Lang Syne"
