THE LIVERPOOL TRAGEDY

SUMNER ARRESTED. INEFFECTIVE DISGUISE. Pr«n A«iociation—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 21. ' Sumner was arrested in Liverpool in connection with the murder of Miss Bradfield. The prisoner had resided since the murder at a Liverpool lodging-house. He disguised himself by shaving off a distinctive eyebrow, wearing spectacles and other devices. He frequently walked tho streets, where a former schoolmate recognised him and denounced him to the police. An Australian, who was living in the same house, saw Sumner reading the newspapers and examining his own photograph. Nobody suspected his identity owing to his coolness and nonchalance in joining in conversations concerning the Liverpool murder. He is reported to have been found in possession of Miss Bradfield's watch.
