Rain fell at intervals throughout the early hours ol yesterday moinnig, but at daylight tne conditions, jmproveu, thougii showers continued to be experienced iruui time to time. In the uftpi'iitfon the conuic.ons were tair, and this"continued during the evening. The prospccte at an early hour this morning were generally good, though there were still indications, that an occasional shower might be experienced.

The rainfall' registered here for the 48 horn's ended 9 a.m. on July 22 was 87 points. ■ HAWKDUN STATION, July 22. The rainfall registered here for the .24 hours ended 9 a.m. to-day was ?11 points. BALULUTHA, July 22. Unusually heavy rain fell in South Otago on Sunday night and continued till yesterday morning; All the creeks are running bank high* and there is a considerable rise in the Molyneux, but to no alarming extent. At Balclutha the rainfall from Sunday till 4 p.m. on Monday was 93 points, and at Owaka from Sunday night till Monday morning it was 114 points. \ DIPTON, July 22. The rainfall to-day measured 28 points.
