FULLERS' PICTURES. "Lw Miserables" was shown at the Princcaj Tfleatro on Saturday for the last time, tho audiences, both in the afternoon and in the evening, being very large. The new series of pictures to be instituted tonight is of a most promismf; nature. Tne feature film, a Noidisk production, is described as a remarkable, awe-inspiring, exciting, and bewildering mystery play and ghost drama, "The Man in the White Cloak," a legend of lost gold. " I Fear no Foe," a Max Linder comedy, and "Under the Make-up," featuring Miss Florenco Turner, should make excellent supporting numbers. There are besides a detective drama, a dim entitled " Shooting the Rapids on the Mekong River," a fresh instalment of the 'Pathe Gazette, and also several other productions. HAYWARD'S PICTURES. The attendance, both at the afternoon and evening, at "The Octagon" on Saturday woro very large, and many persons were. unablo to secure seats at tho latter session. The now programme announced for to-night has for its leading subject an adaptation of "'The Pickwick Papers," which are so familiar to the readers of Dickens. Mr John Bunny, the popular Vitagraph player, visited England a 6hort while ago tor the express purpose of impersonating the famous Mr' Pickwick in bis touts, and it would appear that to . has succeeded beyond expectations. Tho supporting films will be "Saunters through Old Rome," which is described as a classic ecenio; a film illustrating the manufacture of Jager beor, amd two dramas—" The Honour System," by the KaJcm Company, and " The Idol of the Hour," by 'I'hanhouser. "The Gaumont Graphic" will contain pictorial views from many lands, and the Edison firm will contribute a farce comedy. The box plan is at Bogg's
KING'S THEATRE. So large was the attendance at the King's Thoabro on Saturday evening thai tue management was unable to Unci seating accommodation ior everybody, numbers having pc-rtorce to stand. To-niglit an entirely new programme will be staged, among tho fredh artwts being Harry and Nellie QuoaJy, a pair of popular and clever comedians. They wiil appear in their original sketch, " Fun in 'the Kitchen," said to be extremely laughable- and mirth-provokinß. Miss Violet Cannon and Mr A. J. Lawrence, who aro now in their second week, will appear in new items, find Oarino and Francis, comedy acrobats, and strong men, will make their initial appearance. Joe Hurley will make a reappearance for one week in his role of impersonator and miniic,' and the remaining members of the company will present new turns. QUEEN'S THEATRE. Large crowds enjoyed •lilie final reproductions of the outgoing programme at the Queen's Theatre on Saturday, when the auditorium was kept open continuously from 11.30 a.m. to 10.30 p.iu,- The outstanding feature of to-day's new programme is a remarkable film by the Lux Company, entitled "Sacrificed to the Lions." The •munagomunt decided to iollow up the success ot tlie remarkable animal picture, "The Kings of the Forest," by another a similar nature, and this new picture, which is over 1700lt in length, should be not a whit less popular' than its predecessor. A picture that will appeal strongly to manyis one of Patlic Frercs beautiful coloured studies of bird life, entitled " Hunters of the Air." Other attractions promised for to-day are a Lubin drama entitled John Arthur's Trust," and "Cinderella's Slipper," a Vitagraph comedy-drama in which Mr Maurice Costello takes a leading part. BRYDONE SKATING.RINK. The continuation of the Japanese carnival at the Brydono Skating Rink on Saturday night was attended with a- considerable degree of SUO3MS, tlhe floor presenting a bright and animated .spectacle and the benches being filled with spectators. During the ■Evening the final of the Half-mile Handicap Race was run off. There were four starters, and the race early resolved' itself into a contest between J. McGregor and R. Smith, the former eventually winning by half a dozen yards, L. Potter third. The usual two sessions wiil be observed to-day. Preparations are now in hand for the children's fancy-dress carnival on Friday next.
SOCIAL AT Y.W.C.A. As the birthdays of several of the young Indies boarding at tho Young Womwi's Christian Association rooms fall this month, a Birthday Club was formed by the ladies concerned, ami permission was obtained to hold « social and invito gentlemen friends, a privilege hitherto withheld in connection with the establishment, though many socials have taken place The function took place on Friday last, and proved a great success. The evening was spent in games, competitions, mimical items, and recitations. Those contributing items were Miss Lyons. Messrs Wardell, M'Leod, Wallace, and Notman (songs),' Mr and Miss Miller (vocal duets), Misses Scott and Brown, Messrs M'Crcary, Braid, and Miller (recitations). Miss W. Williamson and Mr J. W. Thomson acted as accompanists. Supper woe, provided by tho young ladies. Miss Daisy White and Miss Anderson, with the assistance of the other mo.iibci's of the Birthday Club, capably carried out their duties as M.C.'e. Miss Griffon, the general secretary, in a short speech, welcomed the visitors, and expressed her pleasure at seeing such u torso gathering cf friends. She considered the gentlemen pri'senl should bo honoured, seeing this was the first function held there to which gentlemen had been invited. It was really a trial, but the evening hod proved so enjoyable and fiiocessfiil that more of its kind were sure to follow. Miss Seaman, the house secretary, also said a few .words. Mr Notmarn returned thanks to tho younj; ladies lor their hospitality, and the singing of " For they are jolly good fellows " and " Auld lan« syne " brought tho evening to a close BOWLING CLUB SOCIAL. Tho Green Island Bowling Club held its annual social on Friday night in the Green Island Town Hall. There was a large at : tendance. About 40 couples took part in tho Grand March, which wna led by Mrs W. T. Smellie and the president of the club (Mr W. T. Smellie). Dancing was continued till well on in the morning. Lady friends of the cl"b, members of the Lawn Tennis Club*and wives and members provided refreshments, and a committee of ladies appointed to attend to tho supervision of the tables did everything to meet tho wants of everyone present. The music was supplied by a string band, and gave every satisfaction. Messrs Archie M'Lean, D. Sloan, Jas. Thomson, and J. Lindsay made efficient M.C.'e.
