Throughout the contest the wind, frequently changed. The Australians' notable victory was largely helped by their judgment in coping with the variable conditions. The whole team were admirably coached and shot splendidly. They ran away with the match at the 1000 yds range. Blacklow finished with 11 consecutive bull's eyes.

The win was popular, and the team were warmly congratulated. '

The contest for tho Mackinnon Challenge Cup (10 shots at 800, 900, and 1000 yards) last year resulted as follows:—England, 1583; Scotland, 1556; South Africa, 1554; Ireland, 1541; Canada, 1535; India, 1496; Guernsey, 1445.
