CHARGES OF THEFT. (Per United -Press Association.) - INVERCARUILL, March 7. i At the Supremo Court William John Ltichards, aged 44, charged with stealing i a bicyclc at Waianawa, a mob of cows at < Edenclale, and a mob of steers at Clinton, twas sentenced by Mr Justice Williams to lone year on each charge, the sentences to ;run concurrently, and detention for reformative treatment for a period not exceeding five years. The prisoner arrived :;from England a year ago, deserted his ftvifc and two children, and has been going .'iinder aliases. The Crown Prosecutor stated that he. had £530 in the Bank of Kew Zealand and £87 in the Post Office Savings Bank. When arrested he was possessed of a loaded revolver, which he said he intended using if interfered with. The police described him as a cunning ruffian.
