ANNUAL CONVENTION. (Per United Press Association.) NELSON, March 7. • At- the Women's Christian Temperance Union's convention this morning Miss Roberts (Chjistchurch) advocated approaching schoolmasters with a view to addressing boys on the deadening effect of smoking. In the afternoon the convention dealt with departmental reports, special interest attaching, to that of the domestic science department. The evening sitting was occupied with papers by Mrs Bendely on " Work for the Enfranchised," a discussion of-social problems, and by Mrs Fell on the " Treatment of Wastjrels," being a, description of the methods adopted in Switzerland.
