LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.
THE UNITED LABOUR PARTY. Sib—You published lately, as a Press Association wire, certain misstatements in reference to 1)110 United labour Party, passed in the form of motions by a bogus meeting of a local branch of the now defunct New Zealand Labour Party, attended bv Mr Black (author of the Black Pamphlet), and Mr Walsh, of tho Voice of Labour. Thcso errors were corrected by mo in a letter'you published. T'ae same misrepresentation — "Unfortunately the United Labour party has officially joined that revolutionary organisation known as the Federation of Labour,"—is this morning by you as from " your own correspondent," although'you are aware of its misleading character., It is, therefore, not necessary to refute it again. Tho United Labour Party has not joined the Federation of Labour, nor decided to do so. Npither has the Federation of Labour decided to join tho United Labour party. ITie man who tells "your own correspondent" that it has, namely, Mr Walsh, is the man who, in order to obtain my voico and influence to have the Voice of Labour made the official organ of the United Labour Party at the Easter Conference, offered me as a bribe the Dunedin editorship of his paper only a: week before the conference. Disappointed in this, and failing at the conference itself, ho has from that time to this misrepresented, and tried to disrupt, the very party whoK constitution he helped to build and whoso jwper he hoped to eflit If you will kindly insert, this before th« matter it refers to is forgotten, I will be obliged. I would, too, take it is a favour if Jyou do not omit points which in your personal judgment "are irrelevant to the matter under discussion."—l am, etc.,
Abthck M'Cartht, Secretary-Treasurer, United Labour Party. Dunedin, March 5. THE TRAMWAY SERVICE. Sir—A handbag containing a considerable sum of money was carelessly left on the outside seat of a tram-car on Tuesday last. Inquiries being mado by telephone at the car sheds resulted in the prompt return of the bag, which had been picked up by the conductor. Will you plaise allow mo to thank the tramway oQicials >for their kindness and courtesy in this matter? It is only duo to them that the public should know the kind of men that asa being employed.—l am, etc., Andehson's Bay. .
