V.R.C. AUTUMN MEETING Press Auoociation—By Tolegmph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, March 6.

(Received March 6, at 10.30 p.m.) The weather was cold, dull, and showery for the third day of the V.R.C. autumn meeting, and a strong wind prevailed. Tho • attendance ot the first two days was not repeated, though there was a good crowd present. Tho courea was heavy. Both Government House parties were present.

The short raoes were run on the turn instead of up the straight. The two most interesting races were tho All-aged Stakes and tho Loch Plate. Eudorus is considered by R. Lewis to bo tho /fastest horse he has jet ridden, and he. is considered to have a mortgage on anything up to a mile, but after that his performances are disappointing. To-day it was considered that the only horso that had any chancot against him was Cider, if tho latter was well. It poved to be a one-horse race. Eudorus led into the straight, spread-eagled the field, and won in a canter. In the Loch Plate Piastre and Wolawa created interest, tho Sydney people hotly favouring Piastre and the Melbourne sports championing Wolawa. Piastre's tactics in the Essendon Stakes were repeated, Offa being Eent out to take iip the running. Piastre ran last for about three furlongs, but he got to the field in a milo and led into the straight, Wolawa being in difficulties before that stage. The Sydney horse won handsomely, and Wolawa failed to get a place. Sheriff Muir ran a good race, and should show up well in the Sydney Cup. The River Handicap conditions provided that tho lowest handicap weight should bo 7.7, but through an oversight Mr Menzies adopted 6.7 as the minimum weight, so notices were posted notifying that all the weights had been raised a stone. Loch Amos, therefore, carried 8.7. He put up a good performance.
